The Annointed One (John 12)

from Your Love Dispels Our Fear by Church of the Servant

/

lyrics

At the dawn of his journey the anointed one said,
"The spirit is on me that the poor might be fed."
But soon jealous threats push the sweet Savior down
The new king's anointing now thorns in a crown.

Refrain:
So I pour out my love,
I pour out my plans,
My future, my riches are all in your hands,
Your grace and your glory I find bowing down.

Where the stench of dead Lazarus once filled Mary's room,
From the feet of the Savior rose fragrant perfume,
Whilst disciples rejected love's lavish display
At His feet she was priest and disciple that day.

With broken jar open the fragrance flowed free
And uncovered hair wiped the tired weary feet,
Where disciples saw only a salary lost
She knew the extent of what Christ's love would cost.

Whilst Judas deflected the shame from himself,
She stooped to Christ's feet and poured out all her wealth,
Her journey complete for free grace she now knows,
You taste resurrection, you love overflows.
